Long Term Recovery From Addiction Requires Step-By-Step Approach

Are you looking for help for yourself or a loved one who is addicted to drugs or alcohol? To achieve long term addiction recovery, your first step is to understand and accept that you are dealing with a chronic disease. By taking a step-by-step approach to treatment and working with the addictions counselors and other experts, you or your loved one will be able to reach this goal. The process works, and our clients know that they can trust us to partner with them as they move into sobriety.

First Step: Detoxification

Long Term Recovery From Addiction Requires Step-By-Step ApproachThe first step in helping a client on the road to recovery is to make sure that he or she is free from the influences of chemicals. Outpatient drug and alcohol detox programs are designed to give you or your loved one as much or as little hands-on support as needed, without having to check into a residential facility. The process is completed safely and comfortably at home. Each client is evaluated and a personalized addiction rehab plan is developed to meet his or her unique needs.

Next Step: Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)

The IOP is an excellent choice for people who are unable to leave home and check into a residential program due to work, school or family responsibilities. We offer group meetings during the day and at night, five days a week. This intense schedule is necessary to lay the right foundation for long-term sobriety.

In some instances, clients are also dealing with mental health issues, such as anxiety and depression, along with addiction. Our Mental Health Services staff can provide treatment for people in this situation. If the mental health issues are not addressed, clients are at higher risk for a relapse. Their feelings of hopelessness and helplessness exist separately from the addiction and must be treated separately from it if they are going to be able to remain sober over the long term.

IOP An Important Recovery Step

IOP also has a place for clients who have recently left an inpatient treatment program. It is offered as part of the follow-up care that includes a sober living house, where clients continue to get support from experienced counselors while having an increased level of independence in their everyday lives.

Attending outpatient treatment sessions allows clients to discuss challenges they are facing as they return to a more independent lifestyle and start using strategies they are learning in treatment in the “real world.” They get help right away with any questions or concerns they have during this time of transition.
