Choosing A Rehab Based On Programs – Not Location

If you agree that the quality and types of programs and therapies offered at a rehab facility are factors in the likelihood of long-term sobriety and relapse prevention, then extending your search for a facility beyond your immediate living area makes good sense. Limiting your search to only rehabs near you means you are closing the door to considering programs which may be a better fit, even though you or your loved one may need to travel to access them.

Begin-Choosing A Rehab Based On Programs-New Beginnings Recovery

Addiction Treatment Programs Offered At New Beginnings Recovery Center

At New Beginnings Recovery Center, we focus on offering long-term treatment options to our clients. We believe this approach provides our clients with the best chance for long-term sobriety. To help our clients achieve this goal, we offer a number of programs and therapies:

Natural Detox Program

We offer an integrative and natural addiction detox program that utilizes our Neurotransmitter Restoration Therapy. Our unique and effective detox program uses IV and oral supplements of vitamins, amino acids and minerals to replete a recovering addict’s body. Doing this allows for a faster and more complete restoration of both neurotransmitter and nutritional functions, which helps relieve many uncomfortable drug and alcohol withdrawal symptoms.

Inpatient Program

Our 28-day Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) is a day treatment program with community housing. It provides clients with a highly-structured environment for the early stage of treatment, which includes group therapy, education and relapse prevention.

Outpatient Program

Our 60 or 90-day Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is available to clients who have successfully completed the PHP program. Our IOP is flexible and if you need, allows you to still go to school as well as work. Our Intensive Outpatient Program also includes group therapy and individual treatment programs, a 12-step program and more.

Mental Health Services

Psychiatric and mental health services are available to all clients in our programs. When clients come to us for detox, they automatically receive a psychiatric evaluation.

We can also provide outpatient psychiatric treatment for co-occurring disorders (mental health issues and addiction). Session frequency is based on our clients’ needs.

Integrative Medical Programs

Our integrative medical addiction treatment programs combine conventional medical therapies and alternative medicine to provide a holistic approach to treatment. By taking into account a person’s mind, body and soul, we get them on moving toward recovery quickly and completely.

Counseling

At New Beginnings Recovery Center, we have a number of mental health and substance abuse counseling programs to fit our clients’ busy schedules. Day and night groups meet five days each week. Individual counseling is offered in conjunction with our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP).

Alumni Programs And Aftercare

We offer both Alumni and aftercare addiction programs as well. Our Alumni program is free to join for program graduates and consists of catered, weekly meetings held on the property. The goal is to build relationships with peers, provide service opportunities, and foster a sense of belonging.

Sober Living

New Beginnings Recover Center offers Foundations Sober Living where we provide adults a safe place to live after finishing treatment while still in early recovery. Our Florida sober living also provides assistance with transportation, employment and basic life skills while transitioning to independent living. Each home has a resident manager on site 24 hours a day to oversee operations and provide assistance.

Basing Your Rehab Choice On Programs Rather Than Location

As you can see, with all of New Beginnings Recovery Center’s effective and unique programs offered in sunny and beautiful Palm Beach, Florida, it makes much more sense to choose a rehab facility based on programs, not solely location.

Our caring and professional staff treat each and every client with the respect that they need and deserve. We will create a customized plan made just for your individual needs and goals. We would love to hear from you today.

Why Do Individualized Drug Treatment Programs Offer The Best Chance For Success?

Individualized Drug Treatment Programs-New BeginningsTreating addiction is not like treating an illness where a physician can prescribe a course of treatment based on test results. Addiction is a chronic illness that is complicated and requires comprehensive and unique treatment.

At New Beginnings Recovery Center, we offer individualized drug treatment programs that recognize the uniqueness of each person we treat. This approach offers our clients the best chance for success and we have seen many of them move from the active stage of addiction to successful recovery using our methods.

Benefits Of A Personalized Addiction Program

The benefits of a personalized addiction treatment program are countless since as a one-size-fits-all rehab simply does not work for each and every person seeking help for addiction. Each individual has their own history, story about why they became addicted, reasons why they continue to use, issues they particularly want to address with their counselors, and treatment goals.

For this reason, clients need a personalized treatment plan that is centered around their own needs and individual goals.

At New Beginnings Recovery, we offer individual and group counseling and therapy sessions to get at the root of each individual’s addiction. We also offer other customized activities to encourage our clients to learn relaxation skills, become more physically fit and develop (or rediscover) their creativity. From this “basket” of activities, clients can choose therapies to help them work through the stressors in their lives instead of turning to drugs or alcohol. The tools learned from these programs can be applied long after a client leaves our program.

Effective For Dual Diagnosis

Not all of the clients we see are being treated solely for substance abuse issues. We also treat people who need help for mental health concerns like depression, anxiety and PTSD (Post-traumatic Stress Disorder). It’s not uncommon for people living with these conditions to use drugs and/or alcohol to self-medicate, either because they don’t know what is wrong with them or because they don’t know how to get the help they need.

Unfortunately, self-medicating can complicate any underlying mental health conditions. At New Beginnings Recovery Center, we can offer detox as well as a personalized treatment plan to fit each clients’ specific treatment needs and goals. We can help you and your loved ones recover today!

How Sober Living Houses Helps People Move From Treatment To Independent Living

One of the features that New Beginnings Recovery Center offers clients in early recovery is the opportunity to stay in one of our sober living houses. Leaving a treatment program and transitioning to living in the community is a challenging time. Simply moving from one environment to the other without adequate support is not recommended or ideal since it usually doesn’t end in a favorable outcome.

What Is A Sober Living House?

Since drug and alcohol addiction is a chronic illness, a client goes into recovery during the treatment process. This is an ongoing process, as opposed to a person being “cured.” Choosing to go to a sober living house during recovery allows someone to live in a safe supportive environment when they are either trying to get back to work or school.

Sober Living-Living Room - New Beginnings Recovery Center

During the first few months that a client leaves treatment, he or she is particularly at risk for a relapse, since using the tools to manage stressors of everyday life learned during the program are still new. Having some extra support during the first several months after leaving treatment will greatly benefit someone making this transition.

How A Sober Living Home Works

Sober living gives clients a place where they can continue to focus on their recovery and have more independence than in a residential treatment program. They offer an affordable place to stay where residents must remain drug-and-alcohol free while working on their individual recovery plans.

Sober Living Bedroom - New Beginnings Recovery Center

At New Beginnings Recovery Center, sober living house residents must commit to staying at Foundations Sober Living (our sober living homes) for at least six months, attend a 12-step program under the guidance of a sponsor, and follow house rules, including abiding by specific curfews. They must also agree to do one of the following for the duration of their stay:

  • Obtain employment
  • Go to school
  • Participate in volunteer work
  • Go to an outpatient therapy program

Sober living homes are fully furnished and the cost of the stay in these facilities includes utilities. Residents buy and cook their own food. A resident manager lives onsite to provide assistance and oversee the day-to-day operations of the house. All residents know that random drug and alcohol tests will be conducted, and that they are required to pass in order to continue their stay.

New Beginnings Recovery Center has several drug and alcohol treatment programs to help you or a loved one start a new phase in life. It starts by calling us today!

Long Term Rehab: How Much Time Is Enough?

You may have read news reports of celebrities checking into facilities for a short-term treatment program of 28 day or so, and concluded that they have received all the care that they need to deal with a substance abuse issue. While we don’t know why a person chooses a particular treatment model, in some cases the decision to choose short-term rehab may be partially motivated by scheduling considerations or other factors.

The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) describes addiction as a “complex illness.” It is a brain disease that affects the circuits controlling motivation, reward, learning, memory, and the ability to control behavior. We know that people affected by addiction will continue to drink or do drugs, even when faced with negative consequences of their actions.

Since addiction is a chronic disease, simply getting someone to stop drinking or using drugs for a few weeks is not the same thing as treating the underlying factors and completing a comprehensive treatment program. The NIDA recommends long-term rehab for best results.

Long Term Rehab For Addiction

Partial Hospitalization Program

A 28-day partial hospitalization program (PHP) for drug and alcohol abuse, such as the one offered by New Beginnings Recovery Center, provides clients with addiction education, group and individual therapy. It also gives them a foundation for further treatment with us, which will allow them to address the many underlying issues that led to their addiction.

Intensive Outpatient Program

Once the 28-day PHP has been completed, clients can move into a 60 or 90-day intensive outpatient treatment option. This level of care involves clients living in our sober housing facilities. They receive 10 hours of group therapy and individual counseling sessions per week. In addition to these services, they also attend a 12-step program and take steps to obtain employment and work on their life skills.

Long Term Rehab Is The Best Chance At Lifelong Sobriety

When an addiction is severe or has been established over several years, it is unrealistic to expect that a person will be able to make a major lifestyle change and deal with the underlying issues within a short time. Long term rehab gives a client the best chance of reaching his or her goal of being able to maintain sobriety after leaving a treatment program.

New Beginnings Recovery Center offers several treatment programs to meet its clients’ specific needs.

Program Spotlight: Intensive Outpatient Program

New Beginnings Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) was developed for clients for whom a residential program is not the best choice due to work, school or family responsibilities. Our customized and flexible, yet more intensive treatment program is also a good choice for clients who are in early recovery, since it provides a solid foundation for long-term sobriety.

About Our Intensive Outpatient (IOP) Program

We understand that our clients have busy schedules and for that reason, we have groups that meet during the day and in the evening, five nights a week. Group therapy is an effective form of therapy for clients in recovery from drug and alcohol addiction, since it gives them a sense that they are not alone. Sharing their struggles and successes with others helps all participants to gain strength on their own personal journeys to stay sober.

Intensive Outpatient Program in Florida-New Beginnings Recovery Center

Individual counseling sessions are also available in conjunction with our Intensive Outpatient Program. During these meetings, clients get at the root of personal issues, such as the reasons for their addictions, personal issues in their lives, and anything they do not feel comfortable sharing during group therapy sessions. At New Beginnings Recovery Center, our flexible treatment program allows us to schedule a mix of sessions to meet the individual needs of each client we serve.

Advantages Of Choosing Our Intensive Outpatient Treatment Program

  • Clients get the help they need to treat their addiction and can return home at the end of each day.
  • They can continue to have the support of their family, friends and members of the community during this process.
  • Treatment sessions can be scheduled around work or school hours in many cases, allowing them to continue with their regular routines.
  • Since our IOP is conducted on a flexible day and evening schedule, we can help to ensure our clients’ privacy while they are seeking help for a drug or alcohol addiction.
  • Returning to the “real world” immediately after individual and/or group therapy sessions allows our clients to practice the strategies they have learned immediately, without waiting to be released from an inpatient program. They can then return to the group or individual counselor to discuss their progress and get feedback while still in treatment to receive encouragement and further support.

Our Intensive Outpatient Program in relaxing and beautiful Florida is flexible enough to meet our clients’ needs when in early recovery. Our caring and professional staff will help you successfully overcome addiction and teach you the tools to use for long-term sobriety. We are here for you!

What Are Mood Disorders? And What’s The Relationship To Substance Abuse?

Mood disorders are a category of mental health disorders where a person’s mood is not appropriate to his or her situation. They include the following:

  • Major depression
  • Cyclothymia (a mild form of bipolar disorder)
  • SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder)
  • Mania (a state where a person is euphoric, hyperactive, has unrealistic optimism and an overinflated ego)

Approximately 20 percent of the US population reports experiencing at least one symptom of depression in any one month; 12 percent report two or more symptoms each year. Bipolar disorder is less common; it occurs in about 1 percent of the population. Some experts believe that it is under-diagnosed, since the manic state is not usually reported as an illness.

Relationship Between Mood Disorders And Substance Abuse

Mental health issues like mood disorders have been linked to substance abuse. When a person struggles with addiction and a mental illness, which includes a mood disorder, they have a dual diagnosis.

Some people who are experiencing symptoms of a mood disorder may turn to alcohol or drugs in an effort to self-medicate. A depressed person may be looking for something to help improve their mood, and someone who is manic and is having trouble settling down to sleep at night may turn to alcohol or drugs to try to slow down enough to get the rest they need. Many people who suffer from mood disorders also experience some levels of anxiety, and they may look to substances to deal with these symptoms as well.

In some instances, the substance abuse starts first. Over time, continued use of drugs can trigger symptoms of mental illness in some people.

Depression And Physical Illness

Physical illness and depression are also linked. A number of chronic medical conditions are associated with depression, including heart disease, cancer, stomach issues and diabetes. Between 25-50 percent of patients living with chronic pain are also depressed. Since chronic pain patients may also be taking prescription medications on a long-term basis to help control their pain, they may be at higher risk for prescription drug addiction because they have access to narcotics and other medications.

We Have A Prescription Drug Abuse Epidemic

Deaths from prescription drug use have hit an all-time high, leading the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to declare a prescription drug use epidemic. Incidents involving prescription drug abuse have been steadily on the rise for the past two decades, and are now responsible for nine out of 10 poisoning deaths.

On a daily basis, 6,748 people receive treatment in Emergency Departments for either drug abuse or misuse, and around 120 people die. The death rate from drug overdose has more than doubled in the years from 1999-2013. Over half of the 43,992 drug overdose deaths in the US were attributed to prescription drug abuse. (CDC)

What Is Prescription Drug Abuse?

Prescription drug abuse is taking a medication in a way that is different from that which the doctor originally prescribed. It includes:

  • Prescription Drug Abuse Epidemic - NewBeginningsRecoveryCTR.comTaking a larger dose than what was originally prescribed
  • Taking a prescription prescribed for someone else
  • Using the medicine for another purpose (to get high)
  • Using it in a different manner than as directed (crushing tablets, then snorting or injecting them)

A number of prescription medications can have similar effects to illicit drugs when they are taken in higher doses than prescribed by a doctor or when taken by people who do not have symptoms of the disorders for which they are usually prescribed.

Types Of Drugs Commonly Abused

Painkiller addiction has become a major part of the prescription drug abuse epidemic, with opioids leading the way. Chronic pain is frequently treated with this class of drugs, and their clinical use has increased over the past several years.

Opioids can create a feeling of euphoria among users. Over time, a tolerance and physical dependence leading to drug addiction can develop. When taken at high doses or in ways other than prescribed, they can have similar effects to heroin. Some people progress to a heroin addiction when they are unable to access their prescription painkiller or can no longer afford it, since heroin can actually be easier to obtain and is a cheaper alternative.

Stimulants used to treat ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) are also being abused. Drugs such as Ritalin, Adderall, and Concerta act on the brain’s neurotransmitter systems in the same way as cocaine.

Prescription drugs used for anxiety, including Xanax and Valium, have the same type of calming effect as club drugs like GHB.

All of these drugs have the potential for addiction, and the risk is higher when they are abused. As a result, some physicians are reluctant to prescribe opioids to patients living with chronic pain, even when there is a clear need for pain management. The possibility of prescription drug abuse is having an impact on some doctors when making choices about what to prescribe for their patients.

How Does A Dual Diagnosis Treatment Program Work?

Mental illness in the U.S. is not as uncommon as you may think. According to data compiled by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), 42.5 million American adults (18.2 percent of the population) suffer from some form of mental health issue, which includes depression, schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. SAMHSA compiled data which found that 6.8 million adults had a substance abuse disorder and a mental illness in 2011. Dual diagnosis treatment for a person in this situation must be performed by experts who have experience in this field, like us here at New Beginnings Recovery.

What Is A Dual Diagnosis?

Healing Through Dual Diagnosis Treatment - NewBeginningsRecoveryCenterA client is considered to have a dual diagnosis if he or she has a diagnosable mental illness as well as an addiction. Drug and alcohol issues occur together frequently, and tend to occur in clients who also have:

How Does A Dual Diagnosis Begin?

In some instances, the symptoms of the mental illness occur first. A person may start using drugs or alcohol because these substances help them feel better, temporarily. For other people, the substance abuse comes first. Over time, it can lead to emotional and mental problems.

How Is A Dual Diagnosis Treatment Program Structured?

Treating the addiction only, without addressing the mental health issue doesn’t get to the root of deeper issues and increases the chances of relapse.

Our dual diagnosis treatment is structured so that both conditions are dealt with concurrently, so that our clients can completely heal.

The first step is for a client to stop using drugs and/or alcohol (we help our clients safely and comfortably detox). While the addiction is active/ongoing, it’s difficult to make a clear diagnosis of the mental illness and to offer appropriate treatment for a client. Once a client is sober, the mental health issues can be addressed appropriately.

Outpatient Addiction And Mental Health Services

At New Beginnings Recovery Center, we offer outpatient addiction and mental health services. This treatment model was developed for clients who are interested in receiving dual diagnosis treatment but have work, school and/or family obligations. Our professional and caring mental health staff provides counseling and treatment on an individual basis

How Flexible Are Outpatient Rehab Schedules?

If you are like many people who have considered treatment for your drug or alcohol addictions, you may be worried about taking an extended period of time off work. At New Beginnings, we understand many people are not able to complete a residential treatment program. This is why we offer an intensive outpatient treatment program that allows you to continue your daily activities.

Working Around Your Schedule

How Flexible Are Outpatient Rehab SchedulesWe realize you may have a busy schedule so we offer both day and evening sessions for your convenience. The intensive outpatient rehab program will require you to spend at least three hours receiving treatment at our facility, however, you can schedule your treatment time around your work or school schedule.

After the initial treatment, you will continue to come in for routine counseling and therapy sessions. These sessions may also be scheduled at the best time to fit your needs. Our groups meet five days a week in the day as well as the evening. By allowing patients to choose a time that fits their schedule, we find that more patients are able to succeed in addiction recovery.

Individual Treatment Length

In addition to a customized daily treatment schedule, we also create a customized timetable for your treatment. We realize that each addiction and patient is unique. While one patient may recover from their addiction in 30 days, another may need 90 days. The length of time it takes is not as important as the final outcome. Recovering from drug and alcohol addiction is a marathon not a race. The goal is to successfully finish regardless of how long it takes.

Customized Treatment Plans

We base our customized treatment plan on a few individual pieces of information. When you first enroll into our outpatient program you will meet with a member of our staff to discuss pertinent information. This information will include the substances you are addicted to, how long you have been using, and how much you use at one time. By having this information, we can determine the approximate length of time it will take to complete the program. If you have not completely recovered within the estimated timeframe, don’t worry we can change the length of treatment.

With our customized treatment plan, we can help you recover from your drug or alcohol addictions.
